Location Policy Information
1- Driving Restrictions: Driving allowed only in Panama.
2- Basic Requirements: All renters need to present a valid drivers license and a major credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express) in the same name.
3- Debit Cards: Debit Cards and check cards with the Master Card or Visa logo will be accepted upon time of rental. For your protection the purchase of the Premium Protection Package would become a necessary condition of the rental also including the purchase of the pre-paid gas option. We must get approval for the estimated total as well as an additional deposit of $300. Once the vehicle is returned the $300 deposit will be refunded and it can take 7-10 business days to reflect back into your available balance.
4- Age Requirements: Drivers between the ages of 21-24 are allowed to rent up to a mid-size vehicle and will be subject to a $9.99 per day surcharge.
5- Additional Drivers: All Authorized drivers will need a valid drivers license and be subject to a $5.00 surcharge.
6- Reservation Hold Policy: We will honor all reservations of up to two hour after the reserved pick up time has passed. You may call us or email us to change your pick up time and we will honor your reservation. Two hour after your reserved time will be considered a “No-Show” and we may or may not be able to honor your reservation depending on availability.
7- Extra Day Rates: All rates are guaranteed for the duration of the original term of the agreement. If the rental vehicle is not retuned on the promised date then the Extra Day Charge will begin to apply. If you wish to extend the term of the original agreement you may call for authorization depending upon availability.
8- Rates: International rates are only valid for International customers traveling to Panama. For local reservations please call 270-0355.
9- Pre-Paid Fuel Policy: For your convenience ALL vehicles come with a full tank of gas. If your rental period is for 3 days or less you will be charged for a Half Tank of gas which is listed at market price. If the rental is for 4 days or more a full tank will be charged upon car rental pick up. You can choose to bring it back with at least a half a tank of fuel (3 days or less), or as empty as possible (4 days or more) and not bother refilling it. You can also choose to refill it within a 5 mile radius of the return location and present the receipt upon return and a credit will be issued for the initial gas charge when you rented the vehicle.
10- Insurance and Optional Coverage Options:
a- We Offer a Minimum Protection Package (PCM) which includes CDW to cover our vehicle with a $2000 deductible and SLI - Basic 3rd Party Liability which covers up to $10,000 per incident. Cost is $18 - $23 per day depending upon vehicle rented.
b-We also offer a Deductible Damage Waiver (DDW) which covers the first $2000 of damage to our vehicles, and can only be accepted with the PCM listed above. This product also covers Tires & Windshield. The cost is $10.99 per day for all vehicles.
c-We also offer Increased Liability Protection (ILP) which increases 3rd party liability protection up to $300,000 per incident. The cost is $6.00 per day for all vehicles.
d-We also offer Personal Protection Coverage PPC which covers you, your passengers and personal effects. The cost is $6.99 - $8.99 per day depending on vehicle rented.
e-If you wish to rely on your own insurance to cover our vehicle then the renter must provide “Written Proof” from an insurance company or Credit Card company, specifically stating coverage effective in the country of Panama, for the specific vehicle and for the duration of the term of the rental agreement.
f-If such “proof” is not verifiable or is invalid then it would be necessary to purchase adequate insurance and / or coverage(s) directly from Dollar Rent a Car in order to rent the vehicle.
g-Additional Information: Minimum Protection Package (PCM), which includes Loss Damage Waiver (also known as a Collision Damage Waiver) is optional only when customer presents a major credit card that extends insurance coverage in Panama. PCM is charged at $18.00 to $23.00 per day depending on the car type. PCM is mandatory for the following vehicles, LFAR, FVMR. Supplemental Liability Coverage is optional only when customer presents valid documentation that extends insurance coverage for SLI in Panama. SLI will cost $12.00 per day when PCM is waived and customer will be responsible for full value of vehicle.
h-Insurance Coverages Purchased on Third Party Websites are NOT Accepted in Panama.
11- Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA): All contracts will be automatically enrolled in the Emergency Roadside Assistance Program (ERA) at a surcharge of only $1.99 per day. Key Services (lost or locked in car), Towing Cost, Tire Change, Jump Starts and Gas Service in case you run out of gas will all be provided at no cost. If customer prefers not to participate they must decline participation upon rental and be responsible for any “Service Fees” in the event said customer requires any of the services listed above.
12- Surcharge Information:
Renter must pay a 10% airport surcharge fee on Rental cost for contracts opened in Airport. Frequent Flyer miles may be subject to a frequent flyer surcharge.
13- Miscellaneous Products and Services Available: Dollar Rent a Car has the following products and services available upon request at the time of rental: GPS / Baby Seats / Accessories. All prices may vary.
14- Other Charges: Obligatory local tax of 5% on total contract (I.T.B.M)
